One source I checked shows that the US exceeds Ireland no matter how you count: on fatalities per capita, per vehicle, and per mile driven.

Comment on Encouraging Poor Judgment

The statistics support your observation. In Ireland, there are about 8.5 deaths per 100,000 people and in the US, that number is closer to 15.

Comment on Why Won't My iPhone Open the Door?

I like your style, the fact that your site is a little bit different makes it so interesting, I get fed up of seeing same-old-same-old all of the time. I've just stumbled this page for you :-D

Comment on Back-stabbing, Loyalty, Self-preservation, and You

I agree. Loyalty is earned by those "who have given you their best." And "giving people a chance" does not preclude allowing them to fail. We all make mistakes. Furthermore, we need to take risks which can lead to failures. But we also need to be able to recognize when we or someone we work with "can't deliver." Ignoring or denying the situation damages the organization and the individual players.

Comment on Back-stabbing, Loyalty, Self-preservation, and You

Interesting take on loyalty. Such a complex topic.

Loyalty is earned. I think that you get to fail a few more times when you've earned loyalty.

Comment on Small Businesses - Wake Up!

Ann, this is a topic I often discuss with Seth Isman at the Hilltown CDC. He has lots of clients who do not yet have a Web site. To someone like me who has had a site since roughly 1996, it is astonishing how far into the sand some people still have their heads stuck! Keep preaching the word!

Comment on "You Say Goodbye and I Say Hello"

Well said, and right on the money, Ann!

Comment on Why Won't My iPhone Open the Door?

Thanks for the link.

There is also an iPhone app now that allows you to take a picture of a check you want to deposit and then submit it directly to your bank.
